The 5 S System Implementation
The 5 S system is work place
organization method to eliminate the waste in the process and all activities and
to improve the efficiency.
The 5 S activities are,

1S - Sort out

2S - Systematic arrangement

3S - Shine every thing

4S - Standardization

5S - Self Discipline
The key targets of 5S are workplace
morale and efficiency. The assertion of 5S is, by assigning everything a
location, time is not wasted by looking for things. Additionally, it is quickly
obvious when something is missing from its designated location. 5S advocates and
believe the benefits of this methodology come from deciding what should be kept,
where it should be kept, and how it should be stored. This decision making
process should lead to a dialog which can build a clear understanding, between
employees, of how work should be done. It also instills ownership of the process
in each employee. The order of items or activities should be in a manner to
promote work flow. For example, tools should be kept at the point of use,
workers should not have to repetitively bend to access materials, flow paths can
be altered to improve e fficiency, etc.
In EQUITAS we believe this will help to improve our
operational efficiency.
First, all of our staff will be trained in the 5S
Methodology, then there will be “MY AREA CONCEPT”, and then cross functional
audit will be carried out.
Best 5S rolling trophy will be awarded to the excellent 5S
implementation area/branch every year.
This will be another unique implementation by EQUITAS, again
a first in a Micro Finance Company.
